Weekly Update Tuesday 06 March 2018

Only one match to report at the weekend as the SERL fixture was postponed. Short and sweet it is then. The young pretenders and the old guard once more joined forces on Sunday as the ‘mixture of youth and experience’ that is T4 returned to the Tigers’ den to take on City 4. It was nip and tuck (not of the wobbly-jowelled variety but in the toing and froing of the scores) as Tigers edged the first half 7-5. Scoring phenomena Martha, Sam and Ella notching a few more each and the agents from the big clubs will be circling soon enough if they keep up this kind of form. Sam also chipped in with some fine rebounding and some visionary passing to a marauding Sir Nicholas of House Armitage, who couldn’t resist scoring two runners, showing those youngsters how it’s done. Blow the dust off the record books for the last time an Armitage runner was witnessed – way back in the days of East Germany, Geoff Capes and Brotherhood of Man at number one. PUN ALERT! Eloisa Binfield Gomez has been practising hard on the piano of late and she was certainly making music on Sunday evening, hitting all the right notes as she chipped in with a couple of her own. Not content with all that limelight his mate Sam has been hogging, Oscar scored too. So it was left to Sarah to huff and puff for the last ten minutes in an attempt to get on the score sheet herself and rack up goals for everyone on the team (apart from Chris of course, who can’t hack it at this level.) The Chris and Sarah show didn’t have a glorious ending it deserved though, due to sterling City defensive work, manning the walls and pelting rotten fruit and veg at us. The caretaker was raging (joke.) 13-9 the final victorious scoreline.
