Weekly Update – 23 Jan

The lifestyle of a globe-trotting Korfball player is not always as glamorous as one may think. Behind the cash, the bling, the fans and adulation are human beings who just want to play and are happy to volunteer to help out when others cannot. Take Jenny, Ross and Neha for example. These jetsetters who are more used to Cornwall, Edinburgh and the USA were called into duty for T1 in Milton Keynes on Sunday afternoon, no less. More used to the more measured attacking of Division 2 opponents, they were certainly up against it, defending against MK’s first team. Ultimately we lost 17-10, but take a free-scoring ex-England player out of the equation and the result could have been closer. Shout out to Chris R (for Rebounder) and Tom Clift, lining out for T1 against MK having done so the previous week for T2. They’re sick of him.

Whistle barely blown and hands barely shook, the three amigos jumped into their chauffeur-driven limousine and floored it to Ely to play Vikings 2 in a fixture that had to be put back 30 mins (jetlag obviously…or traffic.) I would love to tell you of victory against the odds but V2 had a few big guns out and were itching to lay to rest the ghosts of V3’s early January 27-goal drubbing to T3. They duly did so, but only got 15. Jen and Neha got a goal each though, which is nice.

There was also lots of action in Harrow for a few Tigers playing in the youth area tournament. A few medals there for Team CB! Coming up:
