Short ‘n’ sweet and to the point this week: big victories for T3 and T2.
That’s all folks.
Just joking of course. The newbies of T4 faced up against the ‘oldies’ of T3. The younger, energetic heads of T4 (and carers Nick and Zoe) were up against ‘the enemy within’ – the wizened old hacks of Tigers 3: Pillinger, Haynes, Clarke, Flux, Francis….these bruised and battered veterans have been around the block, done their homework in training and didn’t hesitate to use sleight of hand (or stern words) to bring a team of young pups to heel. Goals for all of T3, including a few for T2 loanees Ollie and Rachael. This was, however, another good run-out for fast-developing Chloe, Max, Luka and Leo, with Ella protectively keeping a close eye on younger sister and another new starter for T4, Phoebe. Welcome to the world of senior korf Pheebs. Alas, you can’t wear your Tigers onesie but it’s a free country otherwise. Victory for T3 there but as the wise man says of T4: he who never loses is never truly tested. Onwards and upwards towards a meeting with City 4 next weekend.
T2 bounced back from a silly loss last week to score a big victory against a depleted Phoenix 3. We are not sure of the final score exactly on that one, nor the scorers (about 20 goals to 3 or thereabouts.) What I do know is that substitute ‘Little’ Nick Armitage passed the 750 mark – no, not his age, but 750 goals scored for Tigers in competitive korf since 2000. Roger Federer? Pah! For those of you who are interested, you can get even more data on this by simply saying hello to him next in training (there are charts and all – you may want to set aside some time.) Anyway, Billy, Jess, Sarah, Rachael, Ollie, Big Nick, Sam and returning roller-blading Korfer Jude put on a show for us last night to get T2 moving again.
There’s a busy week coming up, with T2 in action on Thursday, Under-14s taking a bow on Sunday morning, away matches for NL and SERL teams Sunday lunchtime, more Tiger-v-Tiger action in the evening before the main event, T4-C4. Llllet’s get rrrrready to rrrrr……well, let’s just get ready.
